FR004 MIX

Future Rhythms 004 brings you a culmination of this year's (more confined than usual) Leo season energy as it now draws to a close. We’ll be jumping from old-school Bollywood, experimental electronic sounds from the Middle East and straight into some grime in the first half. Midway through, we’re keeping things interesting with avant-garde electronic vibes, blending into some Detroit house and then a little dip into some R&B cuts for the heads. Fast forward to the last quarter of the mix - we’ve got freshness from some of the all-time hip-hop greats and then we finish things off with some melodious South-African folklore vibes.

As many of you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to many tours and shows being cancelled - resulting in artists being hit especially hard during this time. As a result - Bandcamp introduced 'Bandcamp Fridays' - dedicating the first Friday of each month (for the rest of this year) to making sure 100% of revenue made goes directly to the artist.

Key dates to note for Bandcamp Fridays 2020:

4 September, 2020
2 October, 2020
6 November, 2020
4 December, 2020

All revenue goes to the artists on the dates above so make note and support your faves! Below I'll be linking each artist's Bandcamp within the tracklist.

FROO3 MIX

Future Rhythms 003 covers the last few months I'd spent around southeast Australia and some slick sounds discovered along the way. This one travels from electronic, to experimental pop & rock, post-punk, broken beat, left-field house and soul. The overall feel of this mix aims to encapsulate the energy of Australia during the time. As I was out here during the worst bushfire season to have ever occured in the country, and aware of the devastating impact it has had on many communities - below are two very important fundraisers which help contribute towards rebuilding local First Nations communities.

If would like to help towards the Bushfire-affected First Nations communities, as well as supporting First Nations people in educating the country on preventative bushfire measures - here are two important fundraisers below:

1. Get Behind Mogo Aboriginal Community & Rangers

The funds raised by this vital campaign above will go directly to and be managed by the Mogo Aboriginal Land Council (Mogo LALC).

The bushfires have devastated the small historical community of Mogo and have left members homeless. It destroyed a large number of businesses and services including the Mogo Aboriginal Land Council. The Mogo LALC plays an important role across several localities, providing a space for community members to meet in addition to providing a wide range of services, from housing to art and education programs, alongside a range of cultural and environmental services.

The funds will therefore be directly used to rebuild community houses and services, provide trauma and mental health support for families and elders and support the rangers in restoring the lands for future fire protection.

2. First Nations Fire Knowledge Land Lore
This crucial fundraiser focuses on building a coalition of First Nations people who have knowledge of traditional land lore and care practices. This coalition can then be accessed by the public, community and RFS to help lead a prevention plan against climate change and future bushfire seasons.
